Terms and Conditions

This Shipping & Delivery Policy explains the delivery and collection options available for purchases from Modern Tide. Please review the product information, estimated lead time and delivery method before placing an order.

Shipping and Delivery is currently available to addresses in: NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. For delivery to WA, TAS or the ACT, customers must contact Modern Tide for a delivery quote.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

1. Delivery Methods

Modern Tide uses four principal fulfilment methods. The method applicable to an order depends on the product location, stock status, size, weight, delivery address and carrier availability.

- Australia local dispatch for eligible in-stock products.
- International air freight or express delivery for selected products.
- International sea freight delivery for selected furniture and larger products.
- Sydney warehouse pickup for eligible products.

The expected fulfilment method and lead time will be shown on the product page, at checkout or confirmed in writing after the order is placed. An order containing multiple products may be delivered in separate shipments using different methods.

2. Australia Local Dispatch

Eligible in-stock products may be dispatched from an Australian fulfilment location. We aim to dispatch these orders promptly, generally within one to three business days unless a different timeframe is stated on the product page or order confirmation. Local deliveries may be carried by Australia Post, Allied Express, Aramex or another suitable Australian carrier selected by Modern Tide according to the product, destination and service availability. Tracking information will be provided where the selected service supports tracking. Estimated delivery times vary by destination and may be longer for regional or remote areas.

3. International Air Freight or Express Delivery

Selected products may be dispatched directly to the customer from an international fulfilment location using air freight or an international express service. The estimated dispatch and delivery timeframe will be stated on the product page, at checkout or in the order confirmation. Tracking details will be supplied where available. The international carrier may transfer the shipment to a local carrier for final delivery within Australia. Air freight and express delivery timeframes are estimates and may be affected by flight availability, customs processing, carrier networks, public holidays, weather and other circumstances.

4. International Sea Freight Delivery

Selected furniture, oversized products and made-to-order products may be shipped directly to the customer using international sea freight and an Australian final-mile delivery provider. Sea freight has a longer lead time than local or air delivery. The estimated lead time will be displayed on the relevant product page or confirmed in writing. Updates may be provided at key stages of the shipment, although continuous parcel-style tracking may not be available while the order is in international transit. Once the shipment is available for final delivery, the appointed carrier may contact the customer by telephone, email or SMS to arrange or confirm a delivery date. A specific arrival time cannot be guaranteed unless a timed service has been expressly included in the order.

5. Sydney Warehouse Pickup

Sydney warehouse pickup may be available for eligible products. Customers must wait until Modern Tide confirms that the complete order is ready before attending the warehouse. The warehouse address, available collection times and collection instructions will be provided after the order is ready. Collection is by appointment or during the confirmed collection window only. The person collecting the order must provide the order confirmation and valid identification if requested.

The customer is responsible for safely loading, securing and transporting the products after collection. Modern Tide is not responsible for damage caused by inadequate transport, securing or handling after the products have been handed over, except to the extent required by law.

6. Shipping Fees and Additional Charges

Applicable standard delivery charges will be displayed at checkout or confirmed before the order is accepted. Delivery charges may depend on product dimensions, weight, destination, service level and carrier availability. Additional charges may apply where reasonably required for:

- regional or remote delivery locations;
- restricted, difficult or non-standard site access;
- redelivery following an unsuccessful delivery caused by incorrect information or customer unavailability;
- storage requested by the customer after an order is ready;
- stairs, service lifts, long carries, special handling or additional labour where not included in the original service;
- crane, hoist or other specialist access equipment; or
- a requested upgrade from the standard delivery service.

Where possible, Modern Tide will notify the customer of an additional charge before the relevant service is arranged. Any import-related charge that is payable separately by the customer will be disclosed before the order is confirmed.

7. Delivery Service Level

The service level included with an order will be stated on the product page, at checkout or in the written delivery confirmation.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, standard delivery does not include assembly, installation, wall mounting, connection of electrical products, removal of existing furniture, removal of packaging or placement in a specific room.

For furniture and oversized products, delivery is made to the nearest safe and reasonably accessible delivery point permitted by the selected service. Any request for internal placement, stairs or additional handling must be disclosed before delivery and may require a separate quote.

8. Access and Site Requirements

Customers are responsible for checking that the product can be safely delivered to the intended location and for providing complete access information before delivery. Relevant access information includes:

- stairs, narrow doors, corridors or turning points;
- lift dimensions, weight limits and lift booking requirements;
- restricted loading zones, parking restrictions or building access times;
- gated properties, security procedures and concierge requirements;
- uneven, steep or unsafe access routes; and
- any need for additional people or specialist equipment.

The delivery area must be clear and safe. If delivery cannot be completed because access information was incomplete or inaccurate, reasonable redelivery, storage or additional service fees may apply.

9. Delivery Address and Contact Details

Customers must provide a complete and accurate delivery address, telephone number and email address. Modern Tide is not responsible for delay or failed delivery caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer, except to the extent required by law. Address changes must be requested as soon as possible. An address may not be changed after dispatch, and a carrier redirection fee or additional delivery charge may apply. Furniture and oversized products cannot be delivered to post office boxes or parcel lockers. Smaller products may be eligible where the selected carrier permits this.

10. Delivery Appointments and Recipient Availability

Some furniture, oversized and sea freight deliveries require a delivery appointment. The customer or an authorised nominee must be available at the delivery address for the confirmed delivery window. Delivery windows are estimates and do not guarantee an exact arrival time. Drivers may be delayed by traffic, earlier deliveries, weather or operational conditions. If no authorised person is available when attendance is required, or the carrier cannot safely complete delivery, the order may be returned to a depot or storage facility and a reasonable redelivery or storage fee may apply.

11. Authority to Leave

Authority to leave may be available for selected smaller products and carriers. It may not be available for furniture, oversized, high-value or signature-required deliveries. Where the customer authorises a carrier to leave a shipment without a signature, the customer must nominate a safe and accessible location. Subject to the Australian Consumer Law, responsibility for loss or damage after recorded delivery may pass to the customer where the shipment was left in accordance with the customer’s instructions.

12. Tracking and Delivery Notifications

Where tracking is available, details will be sent to the email address or telephone number provided with the order. Tracking information may take time to activate after dispatch. For some sea freight or specialist furniture deliveries, standard parcel tracking may not be available. Modern Tide or the delivery provider may instead provide milestone updates and contact the customer when the order is ready for final delivery.

13. Estimated Timeframes and Delays

All dispatch and delivery timeframes are estimates unless Modern Tide expressly agrees to a guaranteed date in writing. Estimates begin from the relevant order confirmation, production completion or dispatch date, as stated for the product. Delays may occur because of production, freight capacity, customs processing, port congestion, carrier disruptions, weather, public holidays, industrial action, access restrictions or other circumstances. Modern Tide will provide updated information where we become aware of a material delay. If an order cannot be delivered within an agreed timeframe or, where no timeframe was agreed, within a reasonable time, the customer may have rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

14. Inspection and Delivery Damage

Customers should inspect the external packaging and the product as soon as reasonably practicable after delivery or collection.
If visible damage, missing items or an incorrect product is identified, please:

- note visible damage on the carrier’s delivery record where possible;
- retain the product and packaging for assessment;
- take clear photographs of the packaging, labels, product and affected area; and
- contact Modern Tide as soon as reasonably possible with the order number and details of the issue.

Do not dispose of a damaged product or arrange an unauthorised repair before contacting Modern Tide, unless reasonably necessary to prevent injury or further damage. Claims involving faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed products will be handled in accordance with the Modern Tide Return & Refund Policy and the Australian Consumer Law.
